Abstract

The 21st century has been marked by an unprecedented convergence of knowledge across disciplines. Higher education, once bound by rigid departmental silos, must now adapt to the challenges of globalization, technological disruption, and societal complexity. This paper explores the theoretical foundations, historical roots, and future trajectories of multidisciplinary education, highlighting its potential to transform higher education curricula. Case studies from global crises such as climate change and pandemics demonstrate the indispensability of integrative approaches, while local examples from Pakistan underscore the relevance of multidisciplinary frameworks in addressing socio-economic challenges. The study concludes with recommendations for educational reforms and the creation of global research networks.
